Flex Wheeler Biography


Flex Wheeler, born Kenneth Wheeler, is an American former professional bodybuilder and actor, born on August 23, 1965, in Fresno, California.

Growing up, Flex was an avid sports enthusiast, participating in various sports including football, basketball, and track and field. He initially pursued a career in football, but after suffering a knee injury in high school, he shifted his focus to bodybuilding.

Flex's professional bodybuilding career began in 1993, when he won his first National Physique Committee (NPC) competition. In the same year, he also won the NPC USA Championships, which earned him his professional status. He went on to win numerous titles, including the Arnold Classic in 1993, 1997, 1998, and 2000, and the Ironman Pro Invitational in 1996 and 1997.

Flex was known for his incredible symmetry, size, and definition, which earned him the nickname "The Sultan of Symmetry." He was also known for his flexibility and posing ability, which set him apart from other bodybuilders.

Despite his success, Flex faced numerous health challenges throughout his career. In 1994, he was diagnosed with focal segmental glomerulosclerosis, a kidney disease that nearly ended his career. He underwent a kidney transplant in 2003, which allowed him to continue competing until his retirement in 2002.

After retiring from bodybuilding, Flex pursued a career in acting, appearing in films such as "The Circuit" and "The Scorpion King." He also became a motivational speaker, sharing his experiences with kidney disease and the importance of health and fitness.



In 2019, Flex was hospitalized due to complications from his kidney disease. He underwent emergency surgery, which resulted in the amputation of part of his leg. Despite this setback, Flex remains optimistic and continues to inspire others with his resilience and determination.
